The Coercion of “Tolerance”

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

This case is akin to a meat-eater suing a vegetarian restaurant for not offering him a rib-eye, or a female patient suing a vasectomy doctor for not providing her hysterectomy services. But rather than defend the persecuted business, the New Jersey attorney general intervened on behalf of the gay plaintiff and wrangled an agreement out of eHarmony to change its entire business model.

The Coercion Of Tolerance At eHarmony

This is crap. No offense to anyone, but this is bad for free enterprise and for sanity. If you don’t like what eHarmony sells then you are welcome to buy another product. Next time I’m at Starbucks I’m asking for a Ukrainian beer. If they don’t provide it, then watch out…

A time to worry…

Damn, he’s not wasting any time making us all less safe, more dependent on foreign oil, and less moral…

Mr Obama’s advisers are said to be putting together a plan to release a group of detainees from the Guanatanamo Bay detention centre and to transfer most of the rest to the American prison and courts system […] Mr Podesta has said executive orders on stem cell research or oil drilling in Utah can easily be repealed, as no congressional action is needed. The Washington Post said other orders affecting environmental legislation and abortion issues were also under consideration.[BBC]

Supposedly the ‘Great’ One already has a list of 200 other ways he wants to screw up our great country.

Bring it on Hannah!

Friday, September 5th, 2008

So, Hurricane Hannah is supposed to hit the east coast this weekend, bringing rain and wind. Just in time for the 100-mile C&O Bike Ride! It’ll still be fun, I’ll just be muddy all weekend. When I found out that we had to meet in Georgetown I thought of skipping the whole thing since that means I’ll have to drive into DC, but I decided to suck it up and just enjoy the hour or so in traffic it’ll take to go ten measly miles. Staying at home playing with Oracle for hours and hours would’ve been lame anyway. Plus, I already raised the money and paid for the hotel. I’m excited about staying in the hotel by the way, it’s like a mini-vacation.

I’ll be sure to take plenty of pictures of the muddy mess that it’s sure to be.

Wanted: Verizon Quality Assurance Team

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

Fun times. I’m sitting on the phone waiting for billing support from Verizon since they decided to double charge me for installation fees (which are pretty ridiculous to begin with since any monkey could run the setup program the technician ran to ‘install the Internet’ on my computer). Every time I’ve had to call Verizon and speak with the computerized I’ve been incorrectly routed to a half dozen over 15 places.

It’s funny how these computerized systems claim to help the process but it would be much better just to talk to a live person.

Grr… I’m about one misrouting from going back to dialup.
